Aller­lei am Weg ich fand, 23 x 17 x 9 cm, Buch­ob­jekt (Uni­kat), 1971/2021

Albert Coers sam­melt seit meh­re­ren Jah­ren Eti­ket­ten von Post, die ihm nach­ge­sandt wird. Anlass war die Umlei­tung von Post, adres­siert an sei­nen Vater, der mit Benach­rich­ti­gun­gen über angeb­li­che Gewin­ne, Auf­for­de­run­gen zur Teil­nah­me an Lot­te­rien und sons­ti­gen Wer­be­sen­dun­gen über­schüt­tet wur­de. Die Mate­ria­li­tät und Far­be die­ser ana­lo­gen Spam-Mail fas­zi­nier­ten ihn, eben­so die Abbil­dung von Zeit­lich­keit durch die Akku­mu­la­ti­on. In den Eti­ket­ten bil­det sich eben­so ein Stück Bio­gra­phie mit den sich ändern­den Adres­sen ab, zwi­schen Mün­chen und Ber­lin.
Bis 2021 gesam­mel­te Eti­ket­ten hat Coers in ein Buch aus dem Jahr 1971 ein­ge­legt, ein Natur­kun­de­buch mit Bil­dern von Klein­tie­ren, Vögeln, Hams­tern etc. 2021 sind seit dem Erschie­nen genau 50 Jah­re ver­gan­gen, Anlass, die bis­he­ri­ge Samm­lung in die­sem Buch abzu­schlie­ßen.
Das Buch bläht sich durch die ein­ge­leg­ten Eti­ket­ten auf, wird zu einer Skulp­tur. Zusam­men mit dem gel­ben Ein­band, der mit den Eti­ket­ten kor­re­spon­diert und mit den Tier­bil­dern erge­ben sich Asso­zia­tio­nen zum The­ma „Sam­meln“, „Nest­bau“, „Lebens­raum“.

Albert Coers has been coll­ec­ting labels from mail for­ward­ed to him for seve­ral years. The occa­si­on was the redi­rec­tion of mail addres­sed to his father, who was inu­n­da­ted with noti­fi­ca­ti­ons of sup­po­sed win­nings, invi­ta­ti­ons to par­ti­ci­pa­te in lot­te­ries and other adver­ti­sing mail. The mate­ria­li­ty and colour of this ana­lo­gue spam mail fasci­na­ted him, as did the depic­tion of tem­po­ra­li­ty through accu­mu­la­ti­on. The labels also reflect a pie­ce of bio­gra­phy with the chan­ging addres­ses, bet­ween Munich and Berlin.

Coers inser­ted labels coll­ec­ted up to 2021 into a book from 1971, a natu­ral histo­ry book with the title “All sorts of things along the way I found”, with pic­tures of small ani­mals, birds, hams­ters, etc. In 2021, exact­ly 50 years will have pas­sed sin­ce the book was published, an occa­si­on to con­clude the coll­ec­tion in this book.
The book infla­tes with the inser­ted labels, beco­mes a sculp­tu­re. Tog­e­ther with the yel­low cover, which cor­re­sponds with the labels, and with the ani­mal pic­tures, asso­cia­ti­ons ari­se on the the­me of “coll­ec­ting”, “nest-buil­ding”, “habi­tat”.
