Regal-Reisen (Merian B.C.), 2026, Installation, Holzplatten beschriftet, Trenner aus einem Regal mit Reisemagazinen, Buchstützen; ca. 230 x 90 cm;
Ausstellung WOrte, Galerie Bruckmühl, 2026;
Shelf Journeys (Merian B.C.), 2026
installation, labelled wooden panels, dividers from a shelf containing travel magazines, bookends; approx. 230 x 90 cm
Exhibition ‘WOrte’, Galerie Bruckmühl, 2026
From a shelf containing Merian magazines, collected the father of A.C., the divider panels labelled with countries and continents have been removed and placed on the floor. The spacing between the dividers has been retained; the shelf has been reconstructed in this way, without its contents – which are located on the ground floor of the exhibition, in a wall installation to which reference is made (MERIAN B.C.).
The dividers bear multiple inscriptions: the name ‘Coers’ can be read on some of the dividers on the side, effectively acting as a signature. B.C. wanted to mark the wooden dividers in this way, to claim them for himself.
Like the magazines, the dividers are also partly inscribed in several places: on the back of ‘USA’ one can read ‘Upper Bavaria, right of the Isar’.
As the work deals with names – place names and surnames – the installation is situated in the same room as the street sign ‘MANN AV’ from New York, from the project ‘Street Names Shine’ – a memorial to the Mann family, 2025
