“Zwischen Licht und Materie — vom Erscheinen und Verschwinden”, Kunstverein Tiergarten, Berlin
Für die Ausstellung „Zwischen Licht und Materie – vom Erscheinen und Verschwinden“ arbeitete ich mit der Bibliothek des Kunstvereins Tiergarten, mit Büchern, aber auch mit den Karten, die im Regal die Bücher gliedern, alphabetisch nach Künstlernamen oder nach Kategorien wie KG (Kunstgeschichte) oder „BE“ (Berlin). Ich nehme die Pappstreifen aus dem Regal und klebe sie an ein Fenster des Raumes. Es ist am weitesten von der Regalwand entfernt und hat etwa ihre Dimensionen. Dabei übernehme ich die Abstände zwischen den Buchstaben, rekonstruiere so den – abwesenden – Bestand der Bibliothek. Die Bibliothek ist von innen und außen sichtbar. Die Karten sind mit Winkeln an die Scheibe geklebt, was ihnen Stabilität verleiht und den Eindruck von Regalstützen vermittelt.

For the exhibition “Between Light and Matter — On Appearance and Disappearance”, I worked with the library of the Kunstverein Tiergarten, with books, but also with the cards that organise the books on the shelf, alphabetically by artist name or by categories such as KG (art history) or “BE” (Berlin). I take the cardboard strips from the shelf and stick them to a window in the room, which is the most distant from the library and roughly the same size as the shelf wall, taking over the spaces between the letters, thus reconstructing the — absent — stock of the library. The library is visible from inside and outside. The cards are glued to the pane with brackets, giving them stability and the impression of shelf supports.
